Do pick up lines get the girls

I found this and other bad pick up lines at this cheesy pick up lines site. I think its a new website as it looks like it hasn't been totally finished yet. Have you heard this one:

"I know I’m not a grocery item but I can tell when you’re checking me out."

I've often wondered if pick up lines really work? If you are the ugliest guy around then any funny pick up line isn't going help you to pick up ladies. Well at least most of the pick up lines are pretty funny.
